I took a drive along the Mississippi from Elk River to Champlin along the Great River Road. I saw approximately 150 Trumpeter Swans some at most stops along the way. I saw a few Bald Eagles, one was on a nest in the middle of a probable Heron Rookery in Otsego. I also saw what looked like a group of Cackling Geese but I couldn't tell for sure, just looked much smaller than a nearby Canada Goose at Cloquet Island Park in Dayton. There were Buffleheads and Mallards and probably other ducks but I didn't get the spotting scope out to check.
