>From 4:45 to 8:30 pm today (minus a 20 minute gap from 7:45 to 8:05 
pm) I counted 9,490 Common Nighthawks migrating over my yard two 
miles southwest of Two Harbors in Lake County.  They were counted 
with a handheld "clicker" for the first two hours until there got to 
be too many to tally individually (and my thumb was sore). I counted 
in multiples of five after that.

Given all the MOU-net and eBird reports from Duluth today, it looks 
like this might be the peak nighthawk migration day this fall.

Here are some cumulative counts throughout my count:

2,686 at 5:32 pm
5,889 at 6:30 pm
7,320 at 6:56 pm
9,490 at 8:30 pm
