Kris Moulton found a male Ruff at these coordinates this morning:
(45.7644305, -93.0024262)
It has been seen by several other birders on and off so far today, with a pesky
Northern Harrier flushing the bird and associating yellowlegs on a regular
basis.

The Ruff was still present this evening, observed by Herb Dingmann, John
Hockema and myself from the north shore of the lake, the same County

Thanks Paul for reporting this beauty!

This morning I relocated a Ruff which I had originally reported to eBird on Aug

Sandpipers in the north basin of Freeborn Lake adjacent to the town of

About 1pm today, Connie Jo and I, together with Jerry and Carol Dirks all saw
the Ruff briefly after Carol found it with the scope. We had walked
southeasterly toward the shoreline of the west end of the narrows of Long
Meadow Lake using a dirt path leading from the main Bass Ponds trail. The
The Ruff was last seen early this morning (~7:30am) at Long Meadow
Lake/Bass Ponds (part of the Minnesota River Valley NWR) in Bloomington.
I--along with at least three other parties--tried later in the day for the
bird, but to my knowledge no one has seen it. There are plenty of places
where a
The previously reported Ruff was seen at 4:30 pm today (5-9-15) on the far
east end of Long Meadow Lake. This spot can be scoped by walking east on
the trail at Bass Ponds as far as it goes before beginning to circle back.
At this point a faint path takes you past a culvert and toward the
Has anybody seen the Ruff at the Bass Ponds in the last two days?? - Thanks,

Several are looking at the Ruff right now(4:20pm).
We are viewing it from standing in the cattails looking to the southeast.
Scope is mandatory. Ground is soft and muddy. Boots are helpful.
It stands out by its larger size, bright rufous head and black chest.

The Ruff is now being easily seen at a different location. It is in the area
where it was originally seen on Saturday.
Come down the hill, go straight to the tee and turn left. There is a beaten
path to your right before you reach the wooden bridge. Take that out to the
edge of Long Meadow
The Ruff originally found by Steve Carlson at the Bass Ponds was still there at
5:00 pm, late Monday afternoon. While searching for this Ruff there were also
thousands of other shorebirds, mostly Lesser Yellowlegs, to shift through. I
identified nine species of shorebirds, including Dunlin,

As I was walking down the trail at the Bass Ponds to see the Ruff at about
3:30 every person walking up the hill had seen the bird. Just before I got
there the Ruff and other shorebirds were flushed by an airplane and relocated
at various locations. I stood with many other birders for over an
John Hockema, Herb Dingmann and I relocated the Ruff around 6pm from a
different vantage point at the NE corner of the Bass Ponds looking NE at about
a 45 degree angle. It is more muddy than the original spot and may be very
difficult after tonight's rain.

My directions should have stated SOUTHwest of the beaver pond area, not
northwest. Sorry for the confusion. It's in the main part of the lake at
its east end, and southwest of where the creek empties into the marsh.

Several of us have been looking for the reported Ruff at Lake Byllesby for
over an hour without success. There are however 3 American Avocets visible
at the far western end of the lake, originally found by Scott Meyer.

Bob Ekblad, Chuck Krulas, and Jeff Stephenson just reported a male Ruff in
Olmsted County. It's on the north side of Silver Creek Reservoir, which is on
the east side of Rochester.

A adult female Ruff was found a few minutes ago by Mark Junghans, Jeff
Stephenson, Jerry Pruitt, and Ron Erpelding. It is in the middle pond of the
Annandale sewage ponds. At 12;00 it was still present when Ron called us.
Per Kims book the directions to the ponds are: 0.9 mile northeast on
Denny Martin just phoned and asked me post that a Peregrine chased the
shorebirds off the Annandale sewage ponds and the previously reported female
Ruff had not subsequently been refound. He said that a number of the shorebirds
have returned, however.

A female Ruff in breeding plumage (or possibly a Red Knot in non-breeding
plumage) was seen tonight (Sunday) at about 8:30pm at Byllesby (Dakota Co.) in
the company of three Hudsonian Godwits and two Dowitchers (presumed
short-billed). Leg color could not be perceived.

Hello,
I am almost certain that I refound the Ruff this morning on the far

consider the lake) The wind was out of this world crazy and the birds
were very spooky (more on that later) but I had a couple good looks
