HI All, Friends of Sax-Zim Bog's Third Annual Bog BioBlitz and it will be bigger than ever! Now an all-day event. Saturday June 27th, 2015.
Go in the field with experts in many areas including birds, spiders, dragonflies, butterflies, wildflowers, sedges, fishes and more! Then we'll all meet back at the Welcome Center in the afternoon to share our discoveries. Each expert will give a report on what their group found. The Biodiversity of the Bog continues to amaze us (300 species were recorded last year). Join us as we continue to explore this magical place. BYOS (Bring your own Stuff... including Lunch and drinks, rubber boots, bug dope, snacks). Bird trips will be earlier (meet at Welcome Center at 6:45am) and other trips will depart at 9am. No need to RSVP...Just show up and pick your field trip! LEADERS & FIELD TRIPS INCLUDE... SCHEDULE **All trips depart from the Welcome Center on Owl Avenue (see directions at bottom of this e-Newsletter or on our website) **We will car caravan to locations (some groups will stay close to the Welcome Center while others will travel to the far corners of the Bog) **Bring your own lunch to eat in the field (no close by places to buy food) **Probably not possible to do more than one subject field trip. 7:00 am—Bird trip departs 9:00 am—All other trips depart 11:00 am—Bird trip returns 11:15 am—Trip to the Showy Ladyslipper stand departs 2:00 pm—All trips return to Welcome Center 2-3:30 pm—Sharing of finds. Leaders will give short reports on what their group found. Then folks can see specimens that were brought back including minnows, insects, spiders, wildflowers, sedges, and dragonflies.
