Mild weather has returned to the northwest this week, and most of our snow
is now
A Spotted Towhee is sporadically present in our back yard. It is seen most
reliably from about 7-8 AM and again later in the afternoon before dark. It may
also be present at different times during the day but is much harder to predict
then. From where it hangs out, I don't think it can be seen
Today Annabelle and I spent some time birding around Crow-Hassan Park and
nearby fields. In the park we were surprised to come across an immature
Northern Goshawk at close range. Not a typical encounter in Hennepin County.
The bird didn't seem to be in a hurry to leave as it flew back and forth
