The Say's Phoebe first report Oct. 7 at McQuade Safe Harbor was still present
today 10/11 and was seen at 11:50 in the vicinity of the restrooms. The person
working there indicated the bird was present earlier in the morning near the
motel.

We just left 2 saw-whet owls in the garden center section of menards in
hermantown. One was last seen sitting on a rake and the other was up in the

We had a male red-bellied woodpecker around the house this morning
(photographed). This is the first we have seen here. I see that it is listed
as occasional in St. Louis County but given its continuing range expansion I
was curious whether it is now of more regular occurrence.

This afternoon my husband spotted a Great Gray Owl along Bobcat Creek Trail
east of Melrude. We were able to watch the bird for a couple of minutes
before it flew off into the woods.
