The Kirtland’s Warbler is an endangered species that has occurred twice in MN
in the last
150 years and might be ready to reappear yet again. Plans are to do a survey in
Pine
County MN to determine if the Kirtland’s Warbler is there.

Anyone interested in helping with the survey should email Pat Hoglund at:
pathogl...@msn.com

Please provide you name, phone number, and email address. Also, if you have a
preference, indicate which Township of the ten listed below you want to survey.
 If you do
not have a preference, a Township will be assigned to you and/or group.

The ten Townships are:
Nickerson, North New Dosey, South New Dosey, Arna, Ogema, Clover, Crosby,
Chengwatana, Pine City, and Rock Creek.

Surveying starts May 10 and ends June 16.

If you have a group that wants to survey together, please include their names
as well.

Teams are made up of 4 people/Team/Township. A Township can have several teams
who
will be coordinated to survey on different dates, that way one team does not
have to survey
each day. Teams will not survey on days of inclement weather. Special
emphasis should be
made to have someone survey on a warm sunny day when the birds are most active.

Equipment required:

Cell phone with a Bird Guide and songs, compass, GPS, and Bluetooth amplifier
(BT
Waterproof Speaker from Menards for $6.99).

Appropriate clothing and boots
Teams should synchronize the time on their cell phones to the second.

For additional details; please attend our meeting on 4-9-18 at 7:00 p.m. at the
Southdale
Library in Edina.
