Chris Hockema just called to report one Short-eared Owl near the Oaks Golf
Course near Hayfield around 11AM. He thought it was a Northern Harrier at
first.
It flew across MN Hwy 30 around an Adopt-a-Highway sign near 170th Ave.

I wonder if anyone knows if the water is open at Canal Park right now? We are
going to Sax Zim on monday and hope to stop there and see if the Eider and the
gulls and pintails are still there. If the canal is frozen over then it would
be a wasted trip.
