Has anyone successfully installed the LAME ACM version as the MP3 encoder for Windows Media Player 8 or 9? Microsoft provides instructions for installing an ACM encoder in their Knowledgebase article 306494 - "Description of the MP3 Encoding Plug-In for Windows Media Player for Windows XP".

After following the instructions, the LAME encoder shows in WMP as an MP3 encoding choice but attempting to copy a track from CD to MP3 gives an error of a file not found (I'm pointing to the correct location of the LameACM.acm file). Any ideas?
Try using the ACM in VirtualDub to see if it's properly installed and working (or the Windows Recorder (dunno if it's still in XP)). Microsoft may have put some protections against that kind of use.
