Green Party candidates kept busy throughout Pride Weekend beginning Friday evening at the annual Dyke March down Lyndale. The parade stepped off at 10 pm from Loring Park following Dyke Night at the Walker Art Center and proceeded down Lyndale to Lyn-Lake. Lavender Greens hosted a Dyke March Water stop as part of it's Brothers for Sisters program. Candidates Cam Gordon(Ward 2), Mark Knapp(Ward 10), and school board candidate Freeman Wicklund where joined by Lavender Greens and campaign volunteers from several other Green campaigns distributing water to thirsty marchers half way along the parade route. On Saturday, most of the 10 Green Party endorsed candidates where available for at least part of the day. 8 of 10 candidates marched in the Pride parade on Sunday with campaign volunteers stepping in for the two candidates with conflicts. Natalie Johnson Lee(ward 5), Dean Zimmerman(ward 6), Cam Gordon(ward 2), Mark Knapp(ward 10), Fran Dassier(park district 6), Scott Vreeland(park district 3), Freeman Wicklund(school board), and (of course) Annie Young(at large park board) all travelled the entire parade route. Brother Shane Price(ward 3) was represented by a contingent of campaign volunteers and Frank Zaragoza(school board) sat out the parade with a bad knee(he attempted to get a pedicab like Annie's when his knee gave out). All and all a great weekend. Then it was time for the Northeast parade Tuesday... David Strand Loring Park Ward 7 __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
