2004 to address pollution, human health and the health of the environment in
the neighborhoods along the upper Mississippi River corridor in Minneapolis.

FORMAT
The general format will be a short presentation by a small panel of experts
familiar with the topics followed by an extensive Q & A with the audience.
Light refreshments will be served. Notes on the proceedings will be taken,
and an evaluation will be distributed to the audience participants.

Information gathered from the forums will be included in a final report that
will contain the top concerns from audience members, issues identified by
panelists and recommendations for change. This information will be provided
to elected officials and community leaders as a foundation for action to
eliminate health hazards that affect the community and the river.

INTENDED AUDIENCE
Our major audience is citizens directly affected by environmental justice
issues, especially communities of color and residents with limited
information and opportunities to influence policies. Other audiences include
elected officials, public agency staff, environmental groups, students and
anyone concerned about creating a sustainable community.

WHAT'S NEXT?
MCNC, Macalester-Groveland Community Council and the Sierra Club are making
plans for a city-wide spring forum on issues surrounding closing the locks
and dams in the Twin Cities, something recommended in Minneapolis' "Above
the Falls" river redevelopment plan. If you want to be on the list to
receive updated information, send an e-mail to MCNC.
