The Minnesota Department of Transportation granted me a filmed interview about their installation of "transient barriers" under bridges in Minneapolis and St. Paul to prevent persons experiencing homelessness from using bridges for shelter.
they were quite accomodating even when I told them it will be in the film "Illegal to Be Homeless" and it is a film that definitely will not present the transient barriers in a positive light.

I got a close up look of these metal rods that are definitely designed for the sole purpose of preventing people from stretching out to rest for any length of time under the bridges.
MNDOT reported that several thousand of dollars have been spent so far to install rods in bridges identified as spots persons who are homeless use the most.
This of course begs the question: If people are driven out from under bridges, where are they supposed to go with the shelters full?
MNDOT was very cooperative in explaining what they do and why they are told to do it.
I have not received any response from the Mayor or his office in response to this terrible situation.
I heard Michael Moore speak last night and he pointed out that there is a real lack of moral outrage and moral leadership in this country (and I believe, in this city.)
