Thanks Steve for doing a bit of research on this. Perception can be as important as reality. Widely held perceptions can be a strong factor to many people when it comes to deciding whether or not to buy a home or start a business in a neighborhood. Negative or positive perceptions can become self fulfilling. I certainly hope that the Star Tribune, and other major media outlets, treat all neighborhoods consistently when reporting crime.
