about $5,000 in it's check book.

I have to say I oppose RT Rybak's suggestions that every contribution of
any amount be reported, and that these be put on the internet within a few
hours.
My opposition is not because I favor secret contributions, but because of
concerns for the practicality of doing this. I don't think it
Russ -- you misunderstand the law on this. The requirement is to
report all contributions that, in aggregate for the entire year,
total more than $100. So a whole lot of $25
contributions would have to be reported. Assuming that 'a
whole lot' is more than 4 of these contributions.
And the
-- corporate contributions are
illegal for all campaign in Minnesota. If Andy has, as he says,
"knowledge" of any such contributions, he should be talking to the County
Attorney, not to this list!

Originally, South Minneapolis was planned with a "commercial" street every
10th block. Thus we have 20th (Franklyn Ave), 30th (Lake St.), 50th (very
commercial on the west side, at 50th France, but less so as it moves
east), and 60th (actually 62nd/Crosstown became the commercial one there).
In recent messages, people have stated that they felt there was "low
turnout" at DFL Ward Conventions.
I'm wondering what kind of turnout they are expecting, and what they are
comparing this year's attendance to?
Do people really expect 100%, or anything approaching that, at these

Seems clear to me that it was the delegates, not "DFL leaders" who were
making all the decisions on this matter. (And the delegates were there: 93
of 108 possible delegates (86%) were in attendance

It's even more remarkable that Patrick was supported by Ross
Taylor (who is 3 1/2 times Patrick's age), and by Judy Farmer (who has been
serving us on the School Board since before Patrick was born). We're
certainly going to have a diverse group on our Minneapolis School Board
next year!

David -- I understood that the highest point in Minneapolis was on the
grounds of one of our public schools, I believe one in the northern part of
the city (Audobon, maybe?). I can't remember exactly, and can't seem to
find where I saw that.

The Minneapolis DFL will be hosting an Election Night Party at the CWA Hall
at 3521 E. Lake St, from 8pm until Midnight or so. This is the Joint party
for all the Board candidates others who aren't holding their own
parties. Many of the contested ward races will have their own parties, and
Hall works.
(I once read that men were competitive combative in making decisions,
while women made decisions gently and by consensus. Despite being 2/3rds
female, I'd hesitate to use those terms to describe the atmosphere around
City Hall for the past 4 years.)

When I ran for city council in Madison, Wisconsin in 1967, students
gained the right to vote in local elections in part because I gave voice
to an elementary question of civil rights. Before that local moment
if these people actually voted when they said
they did. That file is readily available, and checking it would give
a much better indication of likeliness to vote.

warehouse ordering systems for them. The profit margin in groceries

about them every year, when right-wing legislators try to remove them.

I believe these disparities are due, in large part,
to policies approved by the board, such as the promotion of ability-grouping,
the adoption of incoherent curricula, outcome-based
if that was all they
wanted. But they have gone through the effort of campaigning on their
record to the voters every election, and then fighting with a republican
leadership in the legislature to try to get equitable treatment for
Minneapolis. Yes, that IS what I call public service!

Minneapolis Issues Forum - A Civil City Civic Discussion - Mn E
The $100/year limit applies to elected officials/candidates for elected
office, under the Campaign Finance laws, I believe.
As these were specified as given to park staff, I don't think that law
would apply.

So while Candidate Forums are nice, they don't seem to attract enough
voters to matter.
