[mssms] RE: software inventory for all file extentions?

SW inventory is not the tool to do this. There is no guarantee that it will ever complete or send results to you, as such you can't trust the results. However I would suggest creating a CI for this and having the CI run daily (). Anyone with those file type will be deem non-compliant and

First, are you actually relying on software inventory for this? Next, have you re-indexed your database lately and/or do you have a re-indexing SQL maintenance plan set up? J From: on behalf of David Jones Reply-To:

There’s no such list. ConfigMgr can inventory anything you want it to ultimately. If it’s accessible in or via WMI, then it’s trivial for ConfigMgr to grab it. This includes anything in the registry, event logs (be careful here), or custom data – Roger created a cool method last year to pull in

Just reinforcing, that is a very bad idea. It would not just bloat but probably explode your DB – think Violet Beauregarde from Willy Wonka. Because of the throttling and time limits in place as well, it probably wouldn’t even finish and the initial inventory submission after turning this on

We have SCCM and there is a CA tool (ITCM) in our enterprise that collects a lot of data. We are hoping to just use SCCM but they want to see everything SCCM collects and could collect OOB from hardware inventory. They are then going to compare the tool and decide. Michael Schultz Client
