On last point of cost…I am trying to find out ; building our servers in Azure
for Internet clients purpose versus leveraging CMG+CDP, to find out which one
is more cost effective (for same # of clients, same data usage )

Curious to know main difference between building our own MP/SUP, DP in Azure
(Iaas), versus this offering of CMG+CDP (PaaS) in terms of cost, setup and
maintenance… these three parameters ?
1) Would both of them cost same for same # of clients supported, # amount

A few more points to add:
Moving SCCM to Azure for IaaS, clients still need to connect and communicate.
Think of IaaS as just extending your datacenter into Azure. Would you still
want to expose that raw to the Internet? Probably not. So this in itself does
not help the client roaming scenario.
Yep, see that as well, not sure what is causing that. Maybe a GPO setting to
make the IE the default; we are hearing from sites about that issue. I
personally am not working on that issue but if I hear something I’ll let you
all know.

I’m trying to set it as my default pdf reader in me TS but the first time a
user logs in Edge takes it back over and display this nice little message
telling me that it reset itself. Does the same for IE as the default browsers
too.

I believe there are two locations to set the association, one in the settings
defaults apps and the other in control panel / default programs, we had the
same issue during our pilot.

I did find a setting just this week that helps with the below prompt. It’s not
exactly related to default associations.
My issue was when I would click a mailto: link from email, I would get the
below prompt, no matter how many times I clicked Always use this app.

Yep understand. It just isn't ideal when we are used to this 'just working'
in Win 7 with little hassle

Correct, but also keep in mind Adobe guidance is not to have Reader and Acrobat
installed at the same time. One or the other. But the issue still holds true
for all kinds of other scenarios.

Vasu,
Since 1702 CMG has a limit of 6k connections (it's stated in here search
for 6k -
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sccm/core/clients/manage/plan-cloud-management-gateway).
Of course these are simultaneous connections as well. They are not hard
limits but MS recommends working within them to
Good afternoon all,
I am having a problem with distributing an updated wim for Windows 7. The error
in despool.log points to low disk space, its seems its choosing to unpack and
extract the content on a drive that has only limited space available ("Use
drive D for storing the compressed package
Exactly. So that's not always ideal

Mandatory not ideal when customer needs to make a choice, eg, more than one
PDF app out there plus Writer app as well.

Yeah, that would make the assignments mandatory and prevent users from changing
them.
In the case of PDFs, what if a user is responsible for editing PDFs and has
Acrobat Pro installed? The PDF association would be forced to Reader instead
of Acrobat Pro.

Let me rephrase I didn’t really look at your question carefully. So, our users
are restricted from “run as” / “admin”. As far as I know, during our win10
deployment, still going, there has been no reports of issues.
From: listsad...@lists.myitforum.com [mailto:listsad...@lists.myitforum.c
Correct, the only issue we have seen so far is, we have appsense in place and
when the system syncs, the association xml reverts, so we had to edit what
appsense was sync’n. so far, we have not had issues with the custom.xml. (knock
on wood)

Doesn’t that force it though, so the user can’t change it?

We are using the CMG+CDP combo here and its working out pretty good. We used
the CMD/CDP to replace the internet facing MP and DP that we had setup in our
DMZ.
There are security issues with having DMZ servers for IBCM. It required open
ports to our internal network, roughly 10-20 open ports
But this makes it mandatory?

We use a custom.xml association that sets the reader as default. The location
to place this xml is under %windir%\system32 and set the default association
configuration file via local policy under computer configuration –
administrative templates – windows components – file explorer

Hi Experts,
We plan to move SCCM servers (CAS, PS etc. Mgmt roles not DP) to Azure, sort of
an IaaS way. Another consideration we have is, to utilize SCCCM PaaS offerings
that is SCCM Configuration Management gateway and Cloud Distribution Point,
together to serve internet clients
