Can anyone confirm a behavior I'm seeing in SCCM 2012 R2. We have a CAS and
multiple primaries because of how big our organization is.

1 Client

*        CLI001

*        IP address is 192.168.1.15

*        Subnet 255.255.255.0

*        Assigned to Primary 001

2 Primary Sites

*        001

*        002

2 MP's

*        001_MP001 (MP off of Primary 001)

*        002_MP001 (MP off of Primary 002)

1 Boundary Group called NYC_Boundary

*        Subnet 192.168.1.0

2 DP's in boundary group

*        001_DP001 (DP off of Primary 001)

*        002_DP001 (DP off of Primary 001)

CLI001 client shows the resident MP of 002_MP001 and never attempts to contact
the MP for 001 site when checking for source location for a package. It does
use its assigned MP to send up hardware inventory, get policy, etc but will
only use 002_MP001 when checking for content location. Clients always use
their assigned MP to send up HW inventory, retrieve policy and send up status
messages so that is working as expected.

If you run the query below, it only returns back the MP for the 002 site.

exec MP_GetLocalMPListForSite
N'test.domain.net',N'americas.test.domain.net',N'<ClientLocationInfo
OnInternet="0"><ADSite Name=""/><Forest Name="test.domain.net'"/><Domain
Name="americas.test.domain.net "/><IPAddresses><IPAddress
SubnetAddress="192.168.1.0"
Address="192.168.1.15"/></IPAddresses></ClientLocationInfo>',N'0'

If you look at this back in the SCCM 2007 days the client has roamed into a
boundary that is "owned" by a 2007 primary and it would serve the one MP
attached to the primary to the client. Now that you're allowed to overlap
content location and a primary can have multiple MP's why is SCCM2012 only
returning back 002_MP001 and not returning 001_MP001? Since the client is only
attempting content location requests from the 002_MP002 this means if for some
reason the 002_MP001 MP goes down or the 002 primary site all my clients who
are assigned to 001 and within the NYC_Boundary group are unable to perform
content location lookup requests and install software.

We're currently not publishing our boundary groups for site assignment since we
still have a lot of SCCM 2007 out there, but I've tested in my lab with and
without publishing and it don't make a difference I see the same behavior.

Thank you.
