Howdy folks
I'm planning to ask what could very well be the dumbest question of the week so
here goes:
We have SCCM 2012 SP1 deployed (no CUs) and we do not have any form of server
side discovery. I am getting into a state where discovery records for some
computers are ending up with
Where did you pull this list? From the client COM object on one of your
machines?

That's how each of the machines that we have in CM2012 are configured. At
least the ones which I have checked

Hi Jason
What kind of Discovery-Methods are enabled on your site ?
Do you have Heartbeat Discovery disabled (it's enabled by default)? Without
Heartbeat Discovery, you will not see the Discovery Data Collection Cycle
on your Agents.

I'd suggest using something that detects the client version on-demand such
as a Task Sequence or a Detection Method for an Application Deployment Type.
That way, you can re-run the job purposefully or accidentally, and not have
to worry about the patch getting re-applied unnecessarily. Of course,
Has anyone written any custom EP reports? I need something like the following;
1. A report that shows, for failed remediation, the computer name, virus name
and path to the infected file.
2. A report that shows a list of all files removed from a particular computer.
(or from all computers)

Hey Roger
Thanks for coming back to me on this one. I think that you have a really
good point. There really is no discovery enabled in this environment, which
was the design as implemented. I was expecting that a workstation joining
SCCM regardless as to its status would have been able to
I assume Expired=NO Superseded=NO and Required=YES
The only one that would really effect things if you don't have data back from
clients, the Required field wouldn't have data.

Brian, if this is something that is going to be used going forward, you'll want
to create an ADR to add new updates to the group.
Required as a criteria is not going to work for what you want, in the ADR
dialog that is for a text string. Use something like update classification, or
product,
The problem is, when it is expired it is no longer required.
Required and expired are mutually exclusive.

Is there a way to use Asset Intelligence or Hardware Inventory to get CAL
information for SQL, Dynamics, Lync, etc?
I am talking about SCCM 2012 SP1, and I need to do a True Up report.
Thank you,
You can import your CAL info into configmgr. I blogged how to do it. AI does a
poor job though. The import process I blogged used Normalize from BDNA but it's
the same basic principle using AI, without a third party you just won't get as
accurate info IMO

I think I've narrowed this down a bit. All the reports that were built in, or
were transferred over from CM07 have this issue. A report I recently created
from scratch using the Use current Windows user under credentials in the data
source run fine. Sheesh, the last thing I want to do is go
Any reason why this wouldn’t work on a Windows 8 machine? I am seeing a couple
of machines that are not populating the data in WMI, and Windows 8 appears to
be a common factor between them.

Nope, to specific. I only had the issue, and the solution, with a newly
installed CM12, nothing migrated.
