Re: I still have some stuff for Klaas de Wind...

1999-05-02 Thread Rieks W. Torringa

Well, when I was at the MSX fair in tilburg I asked somebody who was well
known to
Klaas what had happened. I don't know if I it's okay to tell, but it can be
of
importance to tell...

He had some kidney problems and the doctors gave him a new kidney, but it
got
rejected by his body.
The only thing there could be done was replacing the kidney with another
one
but unfortunetaly the donor kidney never came until it was too late for
klaas.
Maybe it is time for all of us to think about being a organ donor... You
can save
somebody's live with your own...

bart.

p.s. i hope i got the right information but if i am wrong then please
correct
me... i would be very sorry if I am spreading the wrong happenings...

Hello,

It wasn't Klaas' kidney (=Dutch 'nier') that was the problem, but his liver.
For
the rest the story is, as far as written here, correct, so no further
comments...

Concerning the organ donor thing you mention, I guess that's for everybody
to
decide for their own. It's not okay to press someone with this kind of
feelings.
It's sad what happened, but it doesn't mean everybody should think once more
about organ donation, as everybody ought to know what it means even before
someone close(r) to you passed away...

Rieks.

  What Klaas de Wind died?
  Is that a bad joke?

It is bad, but it's not a joke I'm afraid. He died February 17th this
  year.

He was the founder of Msx club friesland if i am right...

That's right. And the last few years a member of the editorial of our
  diskmagazine (Defender).

Would it be bad if I ask what had happened to Klass de Wind before he
having died?

We from Brazil are very sorry (and why there were no news in this list
that day?)

Robert wrote that Klaas passed away after he heard about it, if I'm right.
But most Dutch MSX-users will know the reason of Klaas' passing away.
He had a severe liver disease and his body couldn't handle the third
transplantation. Most people knew they had to expect Klaas wouldn't
reach the age of 100, but I guess there are few that expected Klaas to
pass away so soon... To me, at least, it was very unexpected, but I'm
staying in Japan for a year so I heard it only two weeks later...

I found this site (in Dutch) that contains the story of Klaas, told
by himself. I never knew him, but if you read these pages, you'll see he was
quite a fighter. I was very impressed.

As far as I recall, Robert Vroemisse -if I'm not wrong, placed a
message on mailing list at february or so, for telling this. :(
If I found it -I saved it for placing it in my diskmagazine- I'll repost
it.

I still have some stuff for Klaas de Wind...

1999-04-20 Thread Laurens Holst

I have a little problem...

I promised Klaas de Wind to send him some disks which belonged to the
scanner he bought from me. But now he passed away, I don't know what to do
with it.

Do I have to send it to his parents? Or has someone else 'inherited' Klaas
his MSX-stuff? These disks belong to the scanner, and I don't want to keep
them, if you get what I mean.

We (MSX-NBNO) had the same problem with sending our magazine... We contacted
his parents for that and the told us that they still would like to receive
our magazine.

Maybe you have to contact them as well to ask them what to do!
