Some progress. I downloaded the packages repo, rebuilt gettext with makepkg, and the new xgettext.exe sort of works: postiffm@XPS8700 MINGW64 ~/MINGW-packages/mingw-w64-gettext/pkg/mingw-w64-x86_64-gettext/mingw64/bin $ ./xgettext.exe  --language=glade ~/gtkbuilder*.xml
