I think the problem is in the bfb_io_open() in src/bfb/bfb_io.c . Could
you add some debug output there (or gdb) and see what happens?
Or did I just add some stupid bug when readded the manufacturer menu?

i updated the irmc plugin from cvs and tried to sync my S55...
but it didnt work:
i selected cable, device manufacturer "siemens" pressed test connection.
it just sits there with the message box open, no error messages no
timeout, nothing.
