The University of Virginia McIntire Department of Music invites
applications for a tenure-track position of Assistant Professor in
Audio and Multimedia Engineering. We seek a colleague who will enrich our
graduate and undergraduate programs in Composition and Computer
Technologies (CCT), and engage productively with a vibrant and diverse
music department as well as other arts, sciences, engineering, or
humanities disciplines at the University. The fields of specialization
might include, but are not limited to, human-computer interaction, sound
synthesis, sonification, mobile computing and applications, audio-visual
systems, network music, artificial intelligence, new interfaces for musical
expression, new musical hardware, music and gaming, and musical
robotics. Candidates should have a strong background in music and
experimental artistic practices.

Responsibilities will include research, undergraduate and graduate
teaching, and faculty service. Review of applications will begin on October
30, 2013, and applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
The position begins August 25, 2014. Applicants must be on track to hold a
doctorate in engineering, computer science, computer music, digital arts,
or related field by the time of appointment. University teaching experience
is desired.
