We are happy to announce the NordicSMC winter school <https://www.hf.uio.no/ritmo/english/projects/all/nordicsmc/events/conferences/2019/nordicsmc-winter-school/index.html>, to be held at the University of Oslo, Norway, 4-8 March 2019.

This is an intensive PhD-level training course on /sound and motion analysis /with experts in sound and music computing from the Nordic countries.


   About

The winter school will be taught with a combination of traditional and flipped-classroom methodologies. All participants are expected to follow the free online course Music Moves <https://www.futurelearn.com/courses/music-moves> prior to coming to Oslo. This MOOC lasts for 6 weeks (starting on 21 January) and will serve as background information for many of the topics dealt with during the week.

The week in Oslo will comprise a combination of lectures, hands-on tutorials and a small, team-based research project utilizing the theories and methods taught during the school.

All students that complete the MOOC, the Oslo programme, and submit a final written report, will receive a diploma with a recommendation of being awarded 3 ECTS credits as part of their PhD training.


   For Whom

The winter school is primarily intended for PhD students in relevant fields, but it is also open for advanced Master's students. Students from the NordicSMC partners will have priority.


   Cost

The winter school is /free of charge/ for all participants. Students from NordicSMC partners can apply forĀ  getting travel and accommodation covered. Other participants have to cover travel and accommodation on their own.
