Can I configure mutt to show messages in a different colors, depending
on a date or time? For example - I want to display todays's messages
with a different color.

Ahh, yeah... Well, in that case, you're probably going to want
something like msmtp.
I'm trying to use mutt to send and receive mails from multiple gmail
boxes. I have copied my config from
http://wiki.mutt.org/?UserStory/GmailMultiIMAP. But when I invoke
mutt, it shows me it's looking at /var/mail/me. When I quit mutt, it
says 'closing connection to gmail'
