set pop_checkinterval

I can't seem to get set pop_checkinterval=60 to work. Is mutt suppose to get the new messages or just check for them. In any case I am not notified by mutt of any new messages available ever. I prefer to use mutt to check mail as I only have one pop account and its much simpler to use mutt
