When a task name is too long, you can't see the whole description, and you're forced to navigate to the task, hit F2 in order to read it. Or even worse: you may have to scroll to the right (in the properties pane to the right). Can I somehow, just as I would do in excel, increase the row height

If you mouseover the task you get a tooltip with the full description. Another option would be to create a view with minimal number of columns to extend the width available. Personally, I try to keep my task descriptions as simple and short as possible; always start with a verb and then bare
