I've used Win + ` (left side of keyboard, under ESC, same key as ~)
Used this key combo since as long as I can remember w/o issue. Works well
for me because it's left hand one-handed and actually easy by feel, not
just looking.

Are you referring to the *search* (ctrl+F) or to the *filter* (ctrl+L) ?
I tried both and could not recreate the problem. Search for "loo" and
found "lookup" among others immediately on the second "o".
FYI I am on 5.1.2 beta so maybe this actually an issue and was addressed
already but not

I found pretty helpful to have several workspaces opened where on each of
them I have a parent task zoom in.
I'm getting more workspaces opened that the number of workspace than can be
visible, so I end up scrolling horizontally with the arrows in the
workspace tab, is there a way to
one edit: by "list" I mean a drop-down list, so you click it a see a list
of all the opened workspaces, that way you don't have to scroll
horizontally to select/set the focus on the workspace you want to go...
