this problem was asked in this list before and i thought i solved
it but i was wrong. Heres the description:
I am running mysql 3.23.54 on Debian Linux with 2.4.20 Final
System has 2 GB Ram.
I compiled from source.
Here are relevant passages from my.cnf

This error occured when trying to connect to MySQL Server.
