Two things to check:
1. Ensure the mysql server is running. mysql.sock is automatically created when the
server is started.
2. If you still get the error, it may be in another subdirectory, usually
var/lib/mysql. Once you locate mysql.sock,
modify the my.cnf file to point to the correct
