use NRPE for this purpose.
The process works fine when I run the full check_nrpe command from the command
line of the Nagios server:
#./check_nrpe -H nnn.nn.nnn.nn -c restart_alert_agent_new -a CRITICAL SOFT 2

Actually Fruity is now called Lilac. It wasn't a publicity stunt, there
is some history there that stalled developement. It is being actively
developed. Nagios 3 support is in the works now that 3.0 is out.

Hi,
I was trying to generate some reports using trends.cgi and have found a problem.
If I change the "end date" to something before "today" the cgi gives
me a wrong report, showing an "always up" report, which is not true.
I can change the start date to whatever I want, and the problem don't

Still pretty new. Don't think the open source community has caught up

have some questions.
The results of my service checks are being logged to the
nagios_servicechecks table, which is very cool. However, I have a bunch of
tables in the nagios database which are not populated. I won't lis

Q: A host checks gets triggered as soon as any service fails?
(My host check (ping) doesn't work, because the hosts are not
pingable and I supposed to see the host "UP" as long as any
services works, so normally no reason for pinging.)
