Doesn't nrpe require some installation on the remote machine?
I can't install that plugin to the remote machine so ill trie to get it done
with check_by_ssh.
As i understand it doesn't require any additional plugins on the remote.
But what puzzles me the most, is how Nagios will send the result
Hello everyone,
my nagios works fine with the Kyocera printers through the plugin
check_printer, but I still couldn't find out how to check these:
Canon iR 1024
Konica C252
Has anyone a hint for me how I could make nagios talk to these two
models?
The Konica tells me through
Hi,
you have to find the right OIDs for the info you are trying to get from
the printer.
Imagine the OID as as dotted address string (like 1.3.6.x.x.x.x.x). Each
OID points to a value and what that value does mean is described into a
collection called MIB.
So, find the right MIBs for your
I got it solved by using check_by_ssh. Will keep in mind and check nrpe next
time i need something similiar and can install a plugin to a remote machine.
Thanks for the help :)

Sorry to hear you upgraded to EX10, but what are you going to do right ?
Yes, most likely your Ubuntu Server is using it's own MAILX to send emails, so
my guess is that the mail routing is not hard-coded into any configuration
within Ubuntu, probably you have a relay issue in your EX10 where
Thank you for the assistance. I was afraid that there was no actual location
within Nagios/Ubuntu that had any configuration that needed to be changed. I’ll
start working towards resolution within Exchange.

If it helps, do your tests through your Ubuntu command line, using nagios as
your user with something like:
echo TEST | mail -s This is a test -S smtp=EX10server.com

When this is successful, chances are you nailed it.
Good luck then.
Thanks again! When I tried your suggestion below, it told me this:

a test -S smtp=twgiex.twgi.net dce...@twgi.net

Have you defined an internal mail connector on your EXCH2010 Hub server(s) for
internal smtp servers that you want to allow to send out mail through your
Exchange Server? Setup their IP Addresses in the lower portion of the Network

Thanks for the response!
We have configured the internal mail connectors, and at this time I’m confident
it’s not a Nagios or Ubuntu configuration issue.
