I¹m just a Nagios-Newbie, but it seems like with all the tools in Nagios;
escalation, flapping, etc you ought to be able to use check_smtp to provide
a pretty good idea of whether the SMTP connection is really up, or really
down, over a period of time, without resorting to grepping log files...
Perhaps put your config files into version control (svn, git, even cvs) and
do an svn -r STABLE up on all the boxes, perhaps even automating that.

This is no surprise, as it¹s trying to run
/opt/local/libexec/nagios/check_swap
There is no such file.
What should have installed it, and where would I find it for OS X?...
