The normal check_host_alive command is ping, but it might not work for some

Hello,
the summary to my question:
Q: A host checks gets triggered as soon as any service fails?
(My host check (ping) doesn't work, because the hosts are not
pingable and I supposed to see the host UP as long as any
services works, so normally no reason for pinging.)

HS ?? How. Or I'm stupid? How should the host respond to service checks
HS if it's down and doesn't respond to ping therefore?
It happens. For example, I have two switches in a strange state
that I can't ping, but otherwise work fine.

Hi All
I am installing nagvis , while editing the nagvis.ini.php , I have come
across the following commands.
In the base value I have given the path
/usr/local/nagios/share/nagvis-1.2.2 but I am unable to proceed for
htmlbase htmlcgi as i am unable to locate /nagios/nagvis
/nagios/cgi-bin
If your normal nagios installation is at http://foo.com/nagios/ the base
is /nagios/nagvis. If it's at http://foo.com/mynagios, base is
/mynagios/nagvis. If you've set up Apache to make http://foo.com/ the
place to go to for the nagios web client, your htmlbase is /nagvis
It's the absolute URL

Hello again. So I've got the ndo2db module installed and working, but now I
have some questions.
The results of my service checks are being logged to the
nagios_servicechecks table, which is very cool. However, I have a bunch of
tables in the nagios database which are not populated. I won't

Still pretty new. Don't think the open source community has caught up
yet.
My programming skills are lacking the abilities so I'm stuck with v2.11.

Hi,
I was trying to generate some reports using trends.cgi and have found a problem.
If I change the end date to something before today the cgi gives
me a wrong report, showing an always up report, which is not true.
I can change the start date to whatever I want, and the problem don't
show up.
Sorry

Actually Fruity is now called Lilac. It wasn't a publicity stunt, there
is some history there that stalled developement. It is being actively
developed. Nagios 3 support is in the works now that 3.0 is out.

Hi,
Have you tested with check_cluster? I think it is what you want.

I am trying to use an event_handler to reatrt a process on a remote server. I
use NRPE for this purpose.
The process works fine when I run the full check_nrpe command from the command

Hi,
I am trying to monitor an oracle server using nagios and am using a Perl

check_oracle_generic!test2!system!manage!18!12!select count(*) from
v$session where username in not null
and your command definition should have
command_line/usr/local/nagios/libexec/check_oracle_generic -SID
