Hi there. My name is Taylor Dondich, the author of Fruity, which you pose at your configuration tool OpCfg. I see you've made some modifications to support some limited capabilities of Nagios 3. However, I also see no mention of the projects you've used to fork and pose as the projects as your own. Nowhere in the Documentation have you posted what the projects used to be. And the funny thing is, this is the first time I've ever heard from your company. Not once was I contacted either personally or through the Fruity mailing lists or through the sourceforge project. I would have gladly accepted any patches or corrections/fixes to Fruity if someone provided them, however on your homepage you post: Basically, we are doing improvements in many open source projects and sometimes it's not so easy to have these codes merged into main trunk. This is normal, because each project has your own ecosystem, own rules and some radical improvements may take much time before it can be accepted. It's a bit hard to swallow this if you've never even made the attempt. And it's hard to accept you guys as being good open source citizens if you fork projects without even discussion with the existing community. And never mention the project name. Sorry if this is such an irate e-mail, but when someone else even does the slightest to attempt to make the hard work you've done and pose it as their own with not even a mention or at least a cooperative effort, it's very frustrating. Re: [Nagios-users] several separate status maps with one nagios process- possible?
-Original Message- From: Tomasz Chmielewski [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 30 October 2008 11:40 Is it possible to set up the web interface so that it shows several *separate* status maps (i.e., in different browser windows on different displays)? My status map doesn't fit on one screen for some time now, and it's getting worse as I keep adding new hosts (more than 100 now). Once you get to an installation of your size, you should probably look at other mapping tools, the built in statusmap isn't that great. An out-of-the-box install of nagios doesn't use a database. If you've installed ndoutils, that module is storing in the database only those things you've told it to store. For some things, like status history, external commands, etc, ndoutils will store historical data. You can change how long it's kept by changing the Table Trimming Options in ndo2db.cfg or by cleaning out the large tables in the database yourself. That will keep the ndo database from growing too large. The problem is that / var is full and I am compelled to make: apt-get autoclean to try to empty the cache, but I do not recover anything. Thank you for helping me telling me how I'm going to do and especially why the basis ibdata1 made 19 giga? Only you can really know what is in your database using up the space. Use a database explorer like MYSQL Administrator to browse the database and see where the space is being used. InnoDB is larger than MyIsam for the same amount of data generally and unfortunately, can't easily be shrunk to recover freed space. Re: [Nagios-users] OpMon.org !!! Why did you do this?
Hello Taylor, We have submitted some patches to fruity sometime ago and we've noticed that fruity was quite abandoned as a project with some bugs at the time. We got the fruity source code and started upgrading and fixing it for our needs 2 years ago and now that is stable, we decided to publish it back to the community as a fork from fruity, as it is no longer pure fruity and, as far as we known, the fruity project in no longer maintained and has become lilac. We just did a fork of our own, nothing more. We forgot to mention fruity on the web page, we will correct it today, but all the credits are kept in the source code. If you check opmonagent, the old NSClient, we also embraced the code, fixed some things, added some features and had nowhere to submit patches, so we also published all the source code as I fork. Taylor, again we are sorry that we forgot to mention fruity, but it is corrected already on the web page. [Nagios-users] Notifications sent out when they shouldn't be
I'm trying to set up two types of notifications, namely emails and sms messages using gnokii. I want the emails to go 24x7, but the sms only to go out of work hours. The problem is, no matter what I try nagios sends out sms messages 24x7. I have tried commenting out the notification_period in the hosts.cfg and services.cfg file. Problem resolved! Even though i removed the sudo command from my commands file it was uncommented and active in nrpg.cfg file. Does this make sense to you? Seems like it could output a better error message than NRPE: Unable to read output?! #command_prefix=/usr/bin/sudo Thanks for all yiour help! Hi, jeremiah wrote: Problem resolved! Great! Even though i removed the sudo command from my commands file it was uncommented and active in nrpg.cfg file. Does this make sense to you? Seems like it could output a better error message than NRPE: Unable to read output?! #command_prefix=/usr/bin/sudo It makes sense. You probably don't have any sudo entries so NRPE can't run sudo without being prompted for password. My guess is that the prompt don't send any EOF, check_nrpe can therefore not parse it as a valid output. Personally, I run NRPE using xinetd so nrpe.cfg is pretty much empty on my side, it only contains command definitions so I wasn't aware of command_prefix's existence. Re: [Nagios-users] OpMon.org
Junior, I believe that argc and argv only get populated when register_argc_argv is turned on in php.ini as they are considered redundant in web applications. Not sure if this is a Fruity or OpCfg issue. Andy Junior Cunha wrote: Hi, This problem was already reported in our mailing list (http://www.opmon.org/get-involved).
