Did you overwrite your existing configuration files ?
If the env variables were for the nagios user , have you looked at the
profile configuration files ?

Hi Vishesh
check_nrpe default run over SSL. If you want run check_nrpe without
SSL, you should add options "-n".
example: check_nrpe -n -H hostname
