There's a bit of pain migrating your config into check_mk's WATO, but IMHO it's

It might be prudent to wait for the check_mk 1.2.3i2 before playing with it,

Hello all,

I have a lot of host servers as VM's on our ESXi infrastructure, managed with
vCenter. We also use vSphere DRS to help keep the load on host systems
balanced. Due to the DRS, our VM's can sometimes move around from being on one
host to being on another w/o my knowledge beforehand. Does anyone know if
there is any sort of plugin available for Nagios Core that would basically talk
to my vCenter system and find out what VM's are on which hosts, and
automatically update that VM's Parent directive in the host definition?

From RPM, and if so, which repo?

Anyone have suggestions on how to trace down the real problem here? File

Hmm, Dell have changed the urls yet again...

Seems to be no way to automagically determine the url from the product type -
uk doc page for that server is:

Thanks very much, Dell :-(

This will also affect check_esxi_hardware.py, which uses the same l;ogic as

Friends,
We love the embedded URL option on the check_openmanage plugin, but it doesn't
properly format them for models with trailing revision numbers, like the
PowerEdge R210 II. The URL produced is of this form:
http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/per210%20ii/
when it should be:
http://www.dell.com/support/Manuals/us/en/555/Product/poweredge-r210-2

I would just work up a patch, but it's obvious that this is in an entirely
different branch of the Dell website, so before starting, I'm curious just
where the original documentation URL schema was derived from?

The following night, log rotations worked and Current status updated correctly.

Subject: [Nagios-users] Log Rotations Issue

Hi,

I was hoping that someone on this list might have some insight to an issue that
I recently ran into after upgrading my Nagios core installation to 3.4.4 (out
of the EPEL Repo) After upgrading, log rotation stopped on one of my two
servers, and perfdata_file_processing_commands stopped working, and whatever
Job that sets 'CURRENT HOST STATE' in the main nagios logs stopped working.

I upgraded both my Dev server, and my Production server, and only my Prod
servers seems to have the issue. Both run the same code, and both have the
same configs.
I'm confident the configs as the same, as both get the configs deployed via
puppet. I've googled around quite a bit, and haven't had any luck figuring it
out. Has anyone seen anything similar?
My feeling, based on the behavior of my Dev server is that it's not a problem
with the code, but that something got stuck but I'm darned if I can figure
out what. I've cleared out the logs, restarted nagios, rebooted the server.
Audited configs and checked the debug output.

Any help is much appreciated!

You get more reported back from check_esxi_hardware.py if the check detects any
error conditions.

I did a lot of work on this last year, see my blog post about it for example
output when things don't work:

All,

I don't know if anyone else already posted this, I just joined the mail list.

We have been using check_openmanage (brilliant piece of work!) to check the
hardware status of our Dell machines, lately we are moving from ESX 4 to ESXi 5
and found that the check_openmanage check could not help us with the monitoring
of ESXi 5 hardware, because check_openmanage needs OMSA for its checks. Today I
found a other plugin to check ESXi hardware, see
http://www.claudiokuenzler.com/nagios-plugins/check_esxi_hardware.php

There is one disadvantage to this plugin and that is that you always get the
same status details back with a OK. I don't know if it is possible but it would
be nice to have the checks from the check_esxi_hardware available in the
check_openmanage, only problem is one is written in Python the other in Perl...

I hope it helps and that maybe someone (Trond the author of check_openmanage?)
can create one check of this.
Met vriendelijke groet/with kind regards,
Arnold Hölzel

Subject: [Nagios-users] Installing n2rrd with Nagios on Centos 6.2

I am in the process of building a Centos 6.2 system to run Nagios and n2rrd.
It is a virtual machine / sandbox. Centos 6.2 is installed as is Nagios 3.4.1
and Nagios Plugins 1.4.15. Nagios and the Nagios Plugins were installed
following the Fedora Quick Start instructions at
http://nagios.sourceforge.net/docs/3_0/quickstart-fedora.html Nagios was
started and I was able to access the Nagios web pages on Apache successfully.
It is the basic, just after installation, configuration, but it tells me it is
working.

The next step was to download and install n2rrd. I downloaded nagios-n2rrd-
1.4.5-1.src.rpm, and started following the instructions at http://n2rrd-
wiki.diglinks.com/display/n2rrd/RPM+Source to perform the install.

Step 2 rpm -i nagios-n2rrd-1.4.5-1.src.rpm created /root/rpmbuild/SPECS,
SOURCES, etc.

Step3 and 4 verify the PATHs for ../SPECS/n2rrd.spec and ../SOURCES/...

Step 5 executes the rpmbuild -ba /root/rpmbuild/SPECS/n2rrd.spec

My first attempt at rpmbuild revealed that I had some problems with some PATHs
specified in n2rrd.spec. Nagios is installed entirely in /usr/local/nagios.
No problem, now that I know. I made the appropriate (I believe) changes to
n2rrd.spec:

#nagios related
%define nagios_conf_dir /usr/local/nagios/etc
%define nagios_data_dir /usr/local/nagios/share
%define nagios_lib_dir/usr/local/nagios
%define nagios_log_dir/usr/local/nagios/var

I'll admit I guessed on the nagios_lib_dir. I fired up a Nagios installation I
had on Fedora 14 to compare directory structures and defining it as /usr/local
/nagios did not seem unreasonable.

I kicked off the rpmbuild -ba /root/rpmbuild/SPECS/n2rrd.spec again and the
messages look a bit better. Near the end of the output, I am seeing the
following:

Processing files: nagios-n2rrd-1.4.5-1.noarch
Provides: config(nagios-n2rrd) = 1.4.5-1
Requires(interp): /bin/sh
Requires(rpmlib): rpmlib(CompressedFileNames) = 3.0.4-1 rpmlib(FileDigests) =

file(s): /usr/lib/rpm/check-files /root/rpmbuild

I believe the above messages are statements produced by the execution rather
than errors. These statements are followed by some errors:

error: Installed (but unpackaged) file(s) found:

My questions are:

1 - Can someone confirm the above messages (Requires...) are statements rather
than errors?

2 - What did I do wrong to generate the 'Installed (but unpackaged) file(s)
found:' errors?

3 - Is there some 'big picture' item or bit of knowledge that I am missing that
caused me to make these errors?

Yes, I am beyond the limit of my expertise here. Any thoughts or comments
would be welcomed, even 'this is the wrong place for this message.'

Thank you.

Subject: [Nagios-users] Help with OCP_daemon and distributed monitoring

I've got a large distributed Nagios installation that uses the OCP_daemon to
handle the forwarding of passive service checks to the master server. I've
recently upgraded from version 3.0.3 to 3.4.1. After the upgrade, I've found a
serious problem that I haven't completely solved yet.

When using the OCP_daemon, you configure Nagios to forward passive check
results by having it write performance data to a named pipe. While on version
3.0.3, all passive check results where being where being written to the perf
data named pipe regardless of whether there was performance data or not. Since
the upgrade to 3.4.1, check data only gets written to the pipe if the plugin
generates perf data. I need all check results, regardless of state to be
written to the pipe and forwarded on to the master. Has anyone else encountered
this issue and what was the solution.

Here's the relevant config:

# Enable Performance data processing.
process_performance_data=1

# Files to which Nagios will write data. In this setup
# they will be named pipes.
#host_perfdata_file=/path/to/host-perfdata.fifo
service_perfdata_file=/var/log/nagios/rw/service-perfdata.fifo

# This is exactly what will be sent to send_NSCA. Do not change it.
host_perfdata_file_template=$HOSTNAME$\t$HOSTSTATEID$\t$HOSTOUTPUT$|$HOSTPERFDATA$
service_perfdata_file_template=$HOSTNAME$\t$SERVICEDESC$\t$SERVICESTATEID$\t$SERVICEOUTPUT$|Data:
 $SERVICEPERFDATA$

# The write mode should be w, although append should have no effect on a named
pipe.
host_perfdata_file_mode=p
service_perfdata_file_mode=p

# We don't want to process any command, so set this to 0
host_perfdata_file_processing_interval=0
service_perfdata_file_processing_interval=0

Thanks,

Re: [Nagios-users] Large scale installation

2012-06-11 Thread Randal, Phil
What's the spec of your nagios server?

We're checking (around) 500 hosts, 4500 active, 5000 passive service with
Nagios 3.4.1 in a CentOS 5.8 VM with 2GB RAM, 4 vCPUs, without problems with
the help of check_mk /mk_livestatus (http://mathias-kettner.de/check_mk.html)

Also using pnp4nagios and rrdcached and ramdisk for checkresults.

Large installation config tweaks, and tuning the check result reaper frequency
all help even out the load.

Cheers,

Phil

Is any way to move a part of active checks to a second nagios server?
And in that case how will these two nagios servers exchange data?
If this is feasible can you point me to some documentation?

Initial testing seems to indicate that it does.

I'm looking at that patch now and intend to apply it (or some other version of

One question though:
The original return early patch was meant to fix a problem where contacts
were being re-notified of downtime when Nagios restarted in the middle of a
downtime period. Is that problem still fixed with the patch found in the issue

I recommend PNP4Nagios, especially if you have a large quantity of data and
services to graph. The installation options offer better scalability than
NagiosGraph.

sorry for not checking prior to posting.

Anyway, I built the new version, btw., why can't you just build the
RPM from the tar? This is what I had to do on RHEL5:

 # tar xzf nagios-3.4.1.tar.gz
 # mv nagios nagios-3.4.1
 # cd nagios-3.4.1
 # vim nagios.spec
change datarootdir to datadir in configure statement # cd ..
 # tar czf nagios-3.4.1.tar.gz nagios-3.4.1/ # rpmbuild -tb
 nagios-3.4.1.tar.gz

 Tada, build works.

 Back to the problem.
Installed the update, doesn't help. On my sample host with 31 checks
only 18 get submitted via Perfdata. Back to nagios-3.2.3 again and all
31 checks are processed. Please tell me if you need any more details,
performance data template configuration or something like that.

This is a slightly older bug about perfdata not being processed when there is
no perfdata. I'll see if I get time to take a look at it.

Hi,

sorry to burst into this, is this about the changed behaviour with quoted text?
I was able to fix it in my check definitions (removing not needed quotes, etc.)
in most cases, also using any kind of special character, e.g. | or * fixes
this, but I am still unable to pass check results to a remote Nagios instance
by sending them via NSCA. I use perfdata processing for this and only check
results with special characters (all checks that do actually have performance
data fulfill this as they all contain the pipe
character) are processed, others never even show up in my definied
service_perfdata_file!

Switched backed to Nagios 3.2.3 and everything works like a charm.

Are both problems connected and fixed in an upcoming 3.4 release?

Regards,

Dennis

Re: [Nagios-users] Monitor Directory (Folders) Size with NSClient++

2012-03-07 Thread Randal, Phil
GetFileSize works for me using backslashes and not forward slashes.

Try using \ or \\ instead of / in the path.

e.g. d:\\Network Shares\\individual\\*.*

This might be a bug in NSClient++ and/or its documentation.

Subject: [Nagios-users] Monitor Directory (Folders) Size with NSClient++

Hello all,

I'm using NSClient++ 0.3.9, nsca and passive checks to monitor my Windows
server behind a firewall. In one of this servers I have a folder that inside
have many other folders and files, I want to monitor this folder and let Nagios
send me a warning or critical notification when the size of this folder grows
too much (Ex. Folder Size 50 GB, warning when is over 70 GB and critical when
is over 80 GB).

I tried to accomplish this using CheckFileSize and CheckDriveSize but not
succeeded at all.

When I use CheckFileSize like this:

alias_individual=CheckFileSize ShowAll MaxWarn=60G MaxCrit=70G
File:_Individual=d:/Network Shares/individual/*.*

I got that the result is ok but 0 Bytes. I even got the same result if I
eliminate the *.* at the end of the path.

[cid:image002.png@01CCFC8C.DE38D7F0]

When CheckDriveSize is used:

alias_individual=CheckDriveSize MaxWarn=60G MaxCrit=70G ShowAll=long
Drive=\\servername\\individual

I got the size but this size is the size of all the Hard Disk and not the size
of the folder.

Hope you can help me to solve this issue or give any ideas to accomplish the
monitoring of size folders.

Thanks in advance.

Subject: [Nagios-users] Plugin to monitor bandwidth usage

Hi,

I've got some strange issues with a web application, where it loses
connectivity at a certain time each night. After a bit of investigation, I
think that this might be related to network congestion. i.e. the backups are
taking up all of the available bandwidth and as a result the web app
connections time out.

I'd like to use a plugin to monitor the amount of bandwidth which is being used
by the server as a whole to see if it is ever saturated. e.g. if bandwidth
remains at 90% of 1Gb/s send a warning

Does anyone know of a plugin which would allow me to monitor this?

Thank you
Serge

Re: [Nagios-users] Monitoring clustered services

2011-10-12 Thread Randal, Phil
One solution to that problem is to use Mathias Kettner's check_mk and use its
clustered service support:

http://mathias-kettner.de/checkmk_clusters.html

That's what I do here.

Another alternative is to create a third 'host' in Nagios representing the
cluster and monitor the services on that, and not on the 'physical' boxes.

Phil

I have configured a couple of hosts in Nagios, since they are the nodes of a HA
cluster the services are running on the active host only. As obvious Nagios is
showing the services down on the passive host. I tried using check_cluster and
check_cluster2 but due to the lack of information around the web and mailing

Would anyone actually using check_cluster like to lend me a hand? :)

We are using Nagios Core 3.2.0 on Centos.

NSClient++ works fine us too

with custom commands like these you can monitor disk space usages alsowhich
was one of the main requirements for us!

define service{
use generic-service
host_name srv_storage-01
service_description Disk Space F Drive
check_command check_nt!USEDDISKSPACE!-l f -w 80 -c 90
}

You get a warming alert at 80% disk full and a critical alert 90%

Re: [Nagios-users] check_openmanage errors

2011-04-28 Thread Randal, Phil
Hi Trond,

Is the beta of check_openmanage.php available for testing?

I'm currently using a slightly modified version of the one in the latest PNP
release.

Two cosmetic issues came to mind:

1: Temperature is measured in Celsius, not Celcius

2: Formatting when reporting multiple sensors in one graph is irksome - the
values don't align in a nice column (e.g. temperatures). I 'solve' this by a
judicious use of substr() and str_pad() to normalise the length of reported
sensor names.

Cheers,

Phil

Is there an easy way to use nagios to check for the absence of a
service?

I want to have nagios monitor SMTP and a few other services on hosts
that aren't supposed to be running them, and tell me if they suddenly
get turned on.

Is there a plugin for this, or a way to trick an existing plugin to make
it work? I suppose if nothing else I can write a wrapper for check_smtp
or check_tcp to swap the OK and CRITICAL return values, but it'd be much
easier if someone else has already done it...

Cheers,
Kyle

Subject: [Nagios-users] DNS down and false alerts...

I've observed an interesting issue with Nagios. Our environment is a mix
of UNIX, Linux, Apple, and Windows. The core of the network is Active
Directory including two AD servers that are both our primary, internal
DNS servers. All non-Windows systems have a resolv.conf that looks like:

nameserver 10.1.1.13
nameserver 10.1.1.14
domain int.our.domain
search int.our.domain

About half of the servers have the nameserver entries inverted (ie: .14
first, .13 second).

The issue is that anytime one of the nameservers is rebooted (at least
once a month if staying current on patches thanks to Black Tuesdays),
whichever hosts have that nameserver listed first in its resolv.conf
start throwing the following errors:

CRITICAL - Plugin timed out while executing system call.

This occurs for multiple tests for each host. Obviously, there's a name
resolution correlation here. If the nameserver with .13 is rebooted, all
hosts (about half of them) that list this IP first in their resolve.conf
then timeout for multiple tests. If the .14 server is rebooted, all the
other hosts timeout. Interestingly, none of the Windows clients issue
errors... only UNIX, Linux, and Mac's... only those with an
/etc/resolv.conf. The end result is a host of false positives, but
more importantly it looks bad on availability reports and causes
phones/pagers to go ballistic with unneeded emails.

I'm trying to find a solution and I can't find one that I like:

Solution 1) is to cluster the DNS servers. We have lots of clusters
here. This isn't good, though, as you don't normally cluster DNS
servers... they're meant to be redundant for a reason... one fails and
it uses the next one.

Solution 2) is to setup a service/host dependency. My thought would be
either a host dependency that says if either .13 or .14 are down, then
don't alert for any other host that uses them. Or a service to host
dependency... if the DNS service is down, then don't alert on any of
these dependent hosts. Honestly, I'm not sure if you can mix host and
service dependencies like this... plus... if the DNS server is actually
down, then the DNS service is down, so better to use a host dependency.
The problem is that now we're not alerting on any dependent hosts which
themselves could have a legitimate issue we want to know about. Plus,
what happens if the DNS server actually dies and take a few hours/days
to rebuild/restore? At this point, the dependent hosts aren't watched
for a very long time.

Solution 3) is to setup a UNIX/Linux DNS server that slaves all zones
from the AD servers and have all UNIX/Linux/Apple clients query from
this server. This would work except that A) I need two of them to keep
redundancy and B) I've now added an extra layer of complication to
resolve an application (Nagios)... not exactly good practice.

Solution 4) is to set the timeout value of a host querying a DNS server.
Perhaps adjust the client to timeout on the first listed nameserver
after only 10 seconds, then try the next one? Since most Nagios tests
have a minimum timeout value of 30 seconds, if the first DNS query timed
out after 10 seconds, it would go to the next one with, hopefully,
enough time to respond. The downside is having to adjust every single
server.

Has anyone else seen this? Anyone else using Windows AD servers to
provide DNS for *nix servers?

Re: [Nagios-users] nagios upgrade

2009-04-09 Thread Randal, Phil
Is there any way you can clone your nagios box to a VM and test on the
cloned box?

I've just done that here testing for a planned 2.12 to 3.0.6 upgrade.

You'll need to edit your nagios.cfg file to remove one obsolete option,
and there are a few new options to merge in from the example nagios.cfg.

I tested the worst-possible migration case - from self-compiled 2.12 to
RPMForge-packaged 3.0.6 RPM.

It was fun dealing with all the default directory changes, but not
impossible.

If you're compiling from source for both versions it should be a fairly
painless migration.

The side.html file is, as far as I remember, the same in both versions,
so I think you can keep your old one and copy over the newly installed
3.0.6 version.

My word, of course, is not gospel (and rarely is), so I'd advise you to
test, test, and test again if you can.

The directories which change depend on your config - a look at the paths
specified in your nagios.cfg etc will point yopu in the right direction.
(your logs might be in /var/log/nagios/, for example).

Cheers,

Phil

Hi I was planning to upgrade nagios from 2.9 to 3.0.6. We already have

My first question , while upgrading will the pnp tool get affected or
messed up by any chance?
I just want to be careful enough because nagios is one of our heavely

As a backup plan already the complete nagios is being backed up by the
cron job.
My second question :
Can i know which directory is the one that is dynamic meaning that keeps
on changing day by day. Let me list some of them here as far as i know:

1)nagios/etc
2)nagios/var

If there is any can you please list them

I have a couple of RHEL 4 boxes too but since they didn't ship with yum
this didn't seem so relevant. I tried putting yum on one of them a
couple of years back and I have to say it was an absolutely awful
experience.

I had done a relatively minimal install and was then tryied installing
yum both by rpm and by source install, both of which landed me in a very
bad and messed up circular dependency hell that I couldn't solve without
breaking some other stuff. I mean I tried everything, and that was the
last time I ever tried a minimal redhat installation (minimal == lower
attack surface and all that best practice stuff which redhat never
seemed to get into - otherwise I have to go round disabling so much junk
on their systems), a very poor choice for tight control and
maintainability compared to gentoo or debian (but I digress).

Did you install yum manually on RHEL 4?
Do you use this as the primary package management tool on RHEL 4 and
does it receive security updates? I would have thought not since RedHat
only shipped this in version 5 which is why the plugin makes no effort
for previous versions of RHEL... but I could be wrong.

I figure that upgrades to the version 5 with it's first half-decent
package management system using yum by default will solve this, but if
anyone wants to correct me or share their experience, feel free and I
may reconsider.

Subject: [Nagios-users] Announce: Check_Yum for RedHat/CentOS server
packagealerts

Hi,

I've just released the Check_Yum plugin on NagiosExchange.org as the
only one there seemed quite inadequate.

Features of the new plugin (none of which are in the old plugin)
include:

- Differentiate between Security / normal package updates
- Better output - numbers of packages updates
- Support for extra Yum options including enabling and disabling repos,
running from the cache
- Optional Warning on non-security updates
- Optional Critical alerting on any package
- Timeout
- Verbosity
- Less false package alerts (the old plugin just used to misleading say
the O/S needed updates when yum failed for any reason at all), including
proper error feedback and a switch for lock handling to not raise an
alert like if somebody is running yum interactively at the same time.

You can download the plugin here:

http://www.nagiosexchange.org/cgi-bin/page.cgi?g=Detailed%2F2577.html;d=
1

(you may need to copy and paste that link if your mail client
misinterprets the link)

As ever, feedback is welcome, and development will continue if needed
for extra switches and features.
This should also work with Fedora or another RPM based distros that uses
yum as it's package management system but I've not tested it outside
RHEL/CentOS so feedback is welcome there too.

On a related note, I'm also quite interested in people's experiences of
updating and maintaining RedHat based systems especially with regards to
security. I spoke to a few people and they basically don't follow
security vulnerabilities and don't patch which ties in with my
experiences and what I've seen of other people's systems too which is
very disappointing. Hopefully this will make it easier to automatically
track and keep on top of security updates for those of us who have
RedHat Enterprise Linux 5 or later or equivalent.

Thanks

The latest version now works fine on my CentOS 5.1 boxes.

Now all we need is a version which works with python 2.3 so I can check
our CentOS / RHEL 4 boxes.

Cheers,

Re: [Nagios-users] Check MS Terminal Services

2006-06-28 Thread Randal, Phil
pnsclient does work on Win2003 SP1 boxes, you just need to disable DEP
for pnsclient.exe.

NSClient++ (http://nscplus.medin.name/index.php/Main_Page) looks good
and works for me for what I want to do (and saves me from having to have
nrpe_nt installed as well).

Clientless? Spend aeons figuring out how to use SNMP queries to get the
info, bash your head against countless brick walls, give up, and install
a client.

Cheers,

 I would suggest nc_net instead.

NSClient does not work with Windows 2003 SP1, nc_net does.
Only downside (i guess) is that it needs the .NET
redistributable on there. Which is standard on 2003 unless I
am much mistaken (don't install many windows boxes myself nomore).

2006-05-24 Thread Randal, Phil

A quick look at the NagioSQL web page gives me little
confidence. No documentation or screenshots.

I've been playing with both Monarch and Fruity.
Both are (to me) Alpha quality, regardless of any RC monnikers the developers
attach to them.

I needed to patchboth to make them
usable:

Fruity: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detailaid=1457860group_id=136248atid=734752

And also this patch to make services imported from
Nagios 1.x configs editable:

Monarch: A fix for the Ajax stuff not working with

So far, I am not overly impressed, but Fruity shows
promise. Monarch is way too slow.

Doesn't NagiosQL2005 dictate where you can install it and where nagios
  should be installed ?
  I
use /usr/local/nagios ... for my location but NagiosQL2005 seems to want to
  force
  a
certain directory structure which just would not work for me.

  It
seems a little inflexible as there must be many nagios installs whereby

RE: [Nagios-users] NSCPlus (aka clearly im stupid)

2006-05-23 Thread Randal, Phil
There is a check_nt as part of the standard nagios plugins
(http://nagiosplug.sourceforge.net/).

The only difference between that and the check_nt which came with
pnsclient.exe is the fileage checking (which isn't implemented yet in
nsclient++ - or if it is it doesn't work).

You can use NSClient++'s CheckFile via NRPE instead.

Also the old nsclient used port 1248, nsclient++ defaults to 12489
(configurable in nsc.ini).

Cheers,

Phil

Ok, having given up on using NSClient coz it don't work for me, I have
turned to NSCPlus (NSClient++). Thing is, and it's clearly me being
stupid, I cant find the server side commands anywhere. I mean, I know
the command syntax etc, but in NSClient there was a check_nt file that
you put in the libexec folder but with NSClient++, though the
command.cfg entries point to additional linux commands (I want to say
executables), I cant find those files anywhere.

Are these meant to be part of the NSCPlus download? If so, I cant see

Depends on how you choose to run it.

NSCPlus can either be used as an Nsclient replacement where you use
check_nt or as a replacement for nrpe (nrpe_nt). In this case you use
 check_nrpe.

 Check the docs at http://nscplus.medin.name

RE: [Nagios-users] NSCPlus (aka clearly im stupid)

2006-05-23 Thread Randal, Phil
Your use of the word server is way too confusing for my little brain.
I'm monitoring windows servers from a linux server... Nuff said on
that...

So, on the Nagios box, you'll need both the nagios plugins
(http://nagiosplug.sf.net) and NRPE (http://www.nagios.org/download/)
installed.

Use of the NSCPlus modules is documented at
http://nscplus.medin.name/index.php/CheckCommands

Basic familiarity with nagios commands and services should be enough to
get you started, but also have a look at the NSCPlus Help forum over at
http://sourceforge.net/forum/?group_id=131326.

Cheers,

Phil

SoIf I'm using NSCPlus, is there anything to copy to the server ?

I have just sat down and re-read the documentation for NSCPlus and the
one line especially as NRPE plug-in is the one that does the actual
execution. Would imply that I need to also install the NRPE
 plug-in as
 well (we're talking server-side here).

If I have to enter my new commands in to command.cfg, and
 those commands
have to point to a file to execute with various params, then
 I guess my
question is where is that file (what is that file?) ?

/me stops drinking so much coffee.

Actually I need to remove both of them, but I do not know how do about

I need to clean the situation to install only NSClient 2.0.1

Try NSClient++ from

Depending on your needs and environment you might be able
to use just this and not need nrpe_nt (from
