Hmm, don't know why it is not showing up. I know that I have to add the host-pnp and srv-pnp templates to my hosts and services to generate graphs. I typically add host-pnp to every host definition and then just add srv-pnp to every service check that I want graphed. that should be an RRD issue, not pnp4nagios at all. if you would like to include the historical data, you need a process to restore them into the RRD files. after that pnp4nagios can show all honestly and add new data for you from now on. In our environment, the slaves send check results in bulk to the master, which means that all the nagios macros associated with the results are no longer available once reached the master. What I want to do is to install pnp4nagios on the master so that we'll have graphs for all the results. The problem now is how do I manually create the right syntax for the service-perfdata file to be processed by the pnp4nagios script process_perfdata.pl, when all the macros are not available? Re: [Nagios-users] [Pnp4nagios-users] PHP GD Extension not available
Hi I added remi repo and installed the latest versions in it , After installation i executed the following to check whether they are installed or not: 1. rpm -q php php-5.3.2-1.fc10.remi.x86_64 2. rpm -q php-gd php-gd-5.3.2-1.fc10.remi.x86_64 After that i restarted the apache web server using the command: service httpd restart Stopping httpd:[ OK ] Starting httpd: [Thu Mar 25 09:13:16 2010] [warn] module php5_module is already loaded, skipping [ OK ] When i scroll to the pnp4nagios link using : http://x.x.x.x/pnp4nagios/ Here i am still seeing that the php-gd extension is not available. Please let me know how to proceed next ? Thanks Jatin The php-gd extension has nothing to do with apache configuration itself. It is totally within php. Do try the following command: rpm -q php-gd If this doesn't give any output, it is not installed. If it does, it must be at least of a high enough version (mine is php-gd-5.3.2 on RHEL5). On RHEL servers, I use the remi repository to update php to a reasonable version and install php-gd next to it: # download the remi rpm file itself wget http://rpms.famillecollet.com/enterprise/remi-release-5.rpm # install the remi repo (by default disabled) rpm -Uvh remi-release-5*.rpm # now upgrade php and install php-gd yum -y --enablerepo=remi install php php-gd Afterwards, restart apache to reload the new php version and addons. To check wether php has the gd module activated, create a simple php-file (called eg. test.php) and put the following php code in it: ?php phpinfo(); ? When you call this test.php from your webserver, you should find a gd-specific section and the first line of it should say GD Support with value enabled Hope this helps, Franky -- Download Intel#174; Parallel Studio Eval Try the new software tools for yourself. [Nagios-users] pnp4nagios, check_snmp, and the `-m' flag
I have a system all setup and running with Nagios and PNP4Nagios. Some of the SNMP checks are not making graphs for me. My general habit has been to anchor the SNMP check with the `-m' flag on the check_snmp command. My command: define command { command_name check_snmp command_line $USER1$/check_snmp -H $HOSTADDRESS$ -m $ARG1$ -o $ARG2$ } My service: define service { hostgroup_name power_meters service_description Demand KiloWatts use snmp-service check_command check_snmp! EATON-PWR-MTR-MIB!.1.3.6.1.4.1.534.8.3.1.5.1.1.4.1 servicegroups power_meter_checks } My result: temporary configs # /usr/lib/nagios/plugins/check_snmp -H 10.1.25.11 -m EATON-PWR-MTR-MIB -o .1.3.6.1.4.1.534.8.3.1.5.1.1.4.1 SNMP OK - 19 kilo-watts | Notice that there's no perfdata. If I leave out the `-m', I get it: temporary configs # /usr/lib/nagios/plugins/check_snmp -H 10.1.25.11 -o .1.3.6.1.4.1.534.8.3.1.5.1.1.4.1 SNMP OK - 19 | iso.3.6.1.4.1.534.8.3.1.5.1.1.4.1=19 It would be nice to keep the units on these calls, just for the sake of it, but this is what's keeping the performance data from being reported in these instances. Just thought I'd post this to the list for future reference. If past experience is any indication of future trending, I'll find this through Google in about 3 years when I can't figure out why I can't get performance data in Nagios again. ;-) Regards, dk -- Let Crystal Reports handle the reporting - Free Crystal Reports 2008 30-Day trial. Is there a hardcoded memory limit in the */usr/local/nagios/share/pnp/include/function.inc.php *file? has anybody seen this problem before? Re: [Nagios-users] pnp4nagios - view graph for disabled service
2009/4/4 Dhaval Thakar dhaval.tha...@networthdirect.com: Hi, I am using pnp4nagios to generate rrd graphs for all nagios hosts services. It is working fine for active services, If I am trying to view graph for disabled / removed service, graph is disabled. e.g I am monitoring traffic for eth0 eth1 for a month. for some reason I stopped monitoring eth1, now I need utilization graph. in this case eth1 is disabled in pnp4nagios. I am unable to view graph unless I change time for eth1.xml (NAGIOS_TIMET) Is there any option in pnp to view graph for disabled service (apart from time change in respective xml file), kindly guide me to solve this. I normally view a graph which does work okay then just enter a similar url, but with the relevant strings changed to match the old graph I want to view. Another thing I noticed is that DRRAW will pick up old .rrd databases. Try Max Schubert's excellent version re-engineered to work well with PNP at http://github.com/perldork/drraw-pnp/tree/master hth, Jim -- ___ Nagios-users mailing list Nagios-users@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/nagios-users ::: Please include Nagios version, plugin version (-v) and OS when reporting any issue. ::: Messages without supporting info will risk being sent to /dev/null

Answering to myself: pnp4nagios is better than nagiosgraph (sorry me nagiosgraph's developers). Hi, i recommend pnp. Integration in Nagios is very simple and you get the graphs immediately. Nevertheless you can design the look of the graphs individually with the template mechanism. Re: [Nagios-users] pnp4nagios or nagiosgraph?
I haven't used nagiosgraph so I cannot talk to how it works, but PNP is also very flexible with how you integrate it and can be made to scale very nicely :); the developers are also open to user patches. - max -- Apps built with the Adobe(R) Flex(R) framework and Flex Builder(TM) are powering Web 2.0 with engaging, cross-platform capabilities. I like to think I'm relatively competent with Nagios, but I fought with nagiosgraph for a while before I ran out of patience and gave up. Unfortunately it's been several months since I did this, so I can't remember why I hated it so much. It didn't help that there are multiple packages out there named 'nagiosgraph'. pnp4nagios, otoh, installed quickly, easily, and just works. I'm disappointed that Nagios doesn't have a graphing engine built in. It's silly to go to the trouble of setting up checks to build datapoints (e.g. ping RTT, memory, disk space) and then throw away data that could have great historic value. Of course, this is a whole 'nother can of worms and gets into the it's only build for one thing argument.
