Lets say the worst case scenario is that we exhaust IPv6 at a rate
MASSIVELY higher than planned.  Can't we all just do this again in like 80
years?  I don't get why anyone cares so much that this thread won't die.

Speaking of dying, I'll be dead by then anyway.

Seabone/LANautilus/TI Sparkle (AS6762), an italian Tier-1 with strong
footprint in Latin America updates it once a day at 06:00 AM at Milan time.
If I recall correctly, only during business days. Works like a charm.

I got a recent answer from Cogent support stating they don't use IRR (at
least for their customers).

Maybe not. My client's upstream just said they released the prefix to their 
upstreams. They had previously referenced IRRs.
