I thought I'd add a little data to my first response:



To watch the network in real time with syslog, which puts 
messages in /var/log/router.log:

tail -f /var/log/router.log | egrep -vi 
'terms|I|do|not|want|to|see|SyncConfigOK|SaveConfigSucceeded|LogFile|etcetera|etcetera'




To look for a problems on router1:

grep -i router1 /var/log/router.log | egrep -vi 'terms|I|do|not|want|to|see' | 
less

that recognizes addresses and prefixes appearing in the output from your
network devices and translates them on the fly.  There’s a bit of work

I have been using papertrailapp.com  a lot recently. 
 It is a cloud based syslog server with a free tier and nice GUI.  Email and 
webhook alerts can be created in a snap (and that is the part I like the most)
