I wonder if it makes sense to include the SDK docs in HTML Help format for
the (gzipped) tar flavor, as these target *nux anyway.

You can safely ignore that test error. It was fixed since.
You copy of NAnt should be fully functional.
Also, there's really no need to compile NAnt yourself. You
can just the NAnt binaries that are included in the release
package.

You need to install the .NET Framework SDK for the CLR you're targeting.
If you use a recent nightly build of NAnt
(http://nant.sourceforge.net/nightly/builds), you'll get a more meaningful
error message.
