Babbitt, Rubin face contempt charge in trust fund suit

WASHINGTON -- Two Clinton Cabinet officials likely will be held in
contempt of court within days for their roles in a lawsuit that charged
that Native American trust funds had been mismanaged, officials involved
in the case said Thursday.

Interior Secretary Bruce Babbitt and Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin
also may be sanctioned for failing to turn over records ordered by a
federal judge in a case involving billions of dollars the government has
put in the Native American funds.

U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth apparently has decided to hold
Babbitt and Rubin in contempt -- a rarity for Cabinet secretaries -- and
will issue an order in the near future, said an official involved in the
case.

This is not the whole of it. $21 million went down a rat hole, for
an audit that could not be done because the "paper trail" was not there.
So...they have stolen about 5 billion and then spent an extra $21 million...

See the General Accounting Office Report of this criminal activity
by the DOI and the BIA:

        <http://www.dickshovel.com/gao.html>

"Although BIA spent over 5 years and about $21 million in a massive effort
to locate supporting
documentation and reconcile trust fund accounts, tribal accounts could not
be fully reconciled or
audited due to missing records and the lack of an audit trail in BIA's
systems"
