The tubes appear complete and intact inside. There is no grid in these tubes. I
wonder if evaporated filament on the glass is acting like a grid?
The “bad” tube even have the same date code as all the good ones, so it doesn’t
get any more close.

Eevblog did a review of some of these Chinese eBay "massive" power banks.
Mostly they were rubbish and performed nowhere near to the claimed figures.
Also, the longevity of the cheapies has been questioned.
Unless you're really price sensitive, I'd stick to a trusted brand like Anker.
They're
I agree to a point.
I was late to the game and people said not to pay 75-100 per tube, because it
was considered a spike in price back then. People told me they had been
selling for $20 each or 7 for $100. I also heard the horror stories about
people buying in bulk and the shippers just
I emailed Jan a few weeks ago about those. All gone!

Jan hasn't had them for a very very long time. That was the price when they
were in stock.

That was the only guy that has had them in quite some time.
I purchased 12 from him. A few days after getting them, I decided to buy
another 12 (arriving today).
That’s probably why he raised his price.
Likely able to sell them for more when he added the Boroughs name, part
number,
That seller has been around a long long time - I've bought of them in the
past.

I purchased some from his as well... he put the last set up for a premium.

Those are the last 6 he has and he raised the price on the last ones. I'm
glad we got some though... it's my guess we may never see these ever
again. This was our chance to fill out the Burroughs alpha family... at
least that's how I looked at it.

Ok, I’ve finally finished ordering all the parts. Coming from various sources,
so, not sure when complete.
Little more spendy than I thought, but that’s life.
I will have enough boards for 40 exactly; although extra parts on everything
else. Everything from USA shipping except the socket
;^} I look at it as an investment that's at least a valuable as my 401k
securities are. I scored a sweet deal on a Metcal MX-PS5000 soldering
station with all the extras last night. My semi decent soldering station
is going to be handed down I think.

The DT1704 appears to have 2 parallel filaments inside; if one of those is
open, it will definitely affect the shape of the electric field and how the
electrons get to the segment anodes.
Do the bad tubes have higher filament resistance compared to the good tubes
?

I don't blame you! It's a market economy.
I only feel bad for younger makers who are interested in the hobby but
don't have unlimited cash.
If pensioners are out there blowing their retirement on inflated tubes it
does drive out some of the upcoming creative types before they have a
chance.

A measurement of ripple levels and frequency would help a lot in diagnosing
what's happening.
Also, electrolytics have a maximum rated current, and the higher the one
that passes through them, the higher the internal temperature, and in
consequence a shorter life. I don't know if multilayer

to resell them, but i keep them because i like them, and i like them even
more.
Personally i think, even tubes are now a victim of social media. I have a
