Re: [neonixie-l] Re: Dekatrons with thyratrons
Thank you, Eric, Threeneurons. What I am taking away from this is: * Keep my thyratrons for the reason I bought them: spares for my Geiger counters. (I have two: because the original wasn't working, the Ebay vendor sent not the parts (missing GM tubes) I asked for, but a whole unit.) * Consider a build with thermionic tubes. Haven't used them before, but have been looking for an excuse. If I had lots of time and money, I'd love to convert a Verilog clock design back to discrete logic - with tubes! -- Matthew Smith Business: http://www.smiffytech.com Blog: http://www.smiffysplace.com Linkedin: http://www.linkedin.com/in/smiffy Flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/msmiffy Twitter: http://twitter.com/smiffy ABN 16 391 203 815 -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups neonixie-l group. Yeah, be careful with those ones, David. They look like the lower voltage types. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups neonixie-l group. RE: [neonixie-l] Found a drawerful of 7441s!
Wow. Screwed again! That's about like every time I walk in to Skycraft in Orlando, FL and walk back to their drawers of TTL. I always check the drawers labeled 7441, 74141, 74142and I always see the same old dust in each of them, but no ics. However, checking the 4500 drawer, I found it slam full!! Bought 5 of them, and have yet to fire up a 4500, but am planning to when I have some time. 4500 is a one-bit 16-instruction processor. And, here's the best part about it: It can run at a clock speed from DC to 1 mHz. I like the DC part. (can you say push-button?)
