Also I think these have the upside-down 2 as a 5, contrary to what the auction description says. Jens On 3/8/2018 4:14 PM, Jeff Walton wrote: I have a number of fine grid IN-8 tubes but the ebay models look crude by comparison.  If memory serves correctly, mine are 1969 and 1970 date codes.

These look like hand-made test tubes. On the back it says МАКЕТ(MAKET, duh) which translates to "MOCKUP" or "SAMPLE". The stems are definitely hand-crushed, and the bases are very crooked. Red paint... maybe they were going after the western look originally, but decided otherwise for the final

I agree Keith, it’s eye candy so I quite like the slot machine effects and similar. You don’t need it every other minute, once every ten minutes or so seems fine to me. Sent from my iPhone > On Mar 8, 2018, at 09:50, 'Spirit' via neonixie-l > wrote: > > I wanted

I wanted to design a clock that would sit under my main monitor, and so I didn't want it to be distracting while still maintaining good tube life. I prefer my neon to be calm :) The slot machine effect is still perfectly valid for those that don't mind having the clock flash obnoxiously every

Am I the only one who thinks the slot machine effect is much nicer to see than this alternative? However, I am on-board if this actually helps longevity. The slot machine effect is usually what gets non-nixie folks excited about the display. It's the "blinky-lights gets the attention" effect.

Same here in Zagreb, Croatia. I have 30 year old noname LED bedside clock which was suddenly late. At instant I had a thought of using this as excuse for SWMBO for building orange glow one instead... On 8 March 2018 at 09:27, Paolo Cravero wrote: > This info affects all

There must be hundreds of that design out there. I personally sold more than 100 kits of one kind or another and the Jeff Thomas version used the same circuit. I've used it with regular nixie tubes as well as B7971s, and I've never heard of one failing. -- You received this message because

[neonixie-l] [OT] AC frequency deviation in Europe

2018-03-08 Thread Paolo Cravero
This info affects all clocks in Europe that derive their timebase from the 50 Hz AC frequency. Last week I noticed my 20+ y.o. Sony Digicube was runnng late: we had adjusted +4 minutes in a week. What bite my curiosity was that the 9 y.o. microwave oven clock had the same delay. Initially I
