[neonixie-l] Re: Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year (in advance)!
Yes, you are correct, it was not easy, I almost gave up at one time. It turns out that many of the LL-55X Nixies have manufacturing errors in that some letters wasn't on the same pin on all identically numbered ones, so I had to solder and re-solder some of them more than once and that gave me some headache until I realized what was going on. Then photographing a wide array of Nixies from the top wasn't easy. I had first placed them on standoffs straight up on a table and tried to photograph that, but the angle was to wide so I ended up putting them all on a piece of cardboard which I then placed on two boxes at each end and then weighed it down so that the center was lower than the edges and all Nixies pointing inwards, but even then it was hard to get them all nicely lined up. Might do a better shot later. And perhaps also change the words "Merry" and "Happy" to "Nerdy" or why not "Nixie"? Adjusting the camera settings is not easy when you only have an iPhone and not much knowledge on photographing. /Martin On Monday, 24 December 2018 21:50:12 UTC+1, Jon wrote: > > Fantastic, love it Martin! A photo of the hand-drawn schematic is here: https://groups.google.com/forum/?utm_source=digest_medium=email#!topic/neonixie-l/cqJVeHkSihE/nWvGNPE6jD8J I had problems with the lifespan of the SZ-8 Nixies, so I switched to ZM1022. No problem so far! I also had problems with the Dekatron zero cathode in the tens-of-hours position. It's on for eighteen hours a day and the cathode slowly sputters away.
