Re: [neonixie-l] Re: Zen clock with a new look

2019-09-02 Thread MichaelB
Thanks for the kudos. I had a nice product to start with just did a
variation on the theme.

Carl and I are working on another 7971 mod-six’ish’ clock with
different accoutrements, but it may be a while…like all our stuff, right!

I have some more of those 8091’s too…trying to think of an alternative
design. The tube boards are nothing to build, and Pete’s electronics work
to drive most any sort of tube. Heck, I used his innards to drive my
F9020AA clock and they continue to run without a hitch. You’ll need some
help with the Dekatrons tho, if you want to use those, that I can't provide.

Dang! The color is perfect. I honestly am learning about tool and die but
I bow to your skills.

How about some hints on future projects? I've been saving up more 7971's

I've got a 6 digit B-8091 clock I'm building with PV electronics from Pete
with two OG-4 dekatrons. So you think you could help me come up with
something to house and base them all? I'm still not sure how the dekatrons
work with other tubes... I assume it's some pendulum thing... Should be
here fairly soon... Pete ordered the special B-8091 tube boards for me.
(Thanks again Nick for the lead on these) I've got some vintage rainbow
ribbon cable from 1976 I wanted to use in it for the tubes since the PV is
built to use ribbon cables. I wonder if an exposed innards might be cool?

Has anyone ever done anything with either the 8 or 14 digit Pandicons?
They seem to go for some decent money, but I've yet to see them
implemented.

Just don't use it on copper. A Scotch Brite pad is what I use to polish up an
untinned PC board before I start soldering.

Yep, I thought about trying before, but as you know, you get those
really fine steel particles when you use it. Not good around electronic
stuff. Scotch Brite is very clean to use and I can use it at my workbench.

use it on old cars to get grunge off of glass and chrome and stainless
