You are right of course.
Much higher voltages in the old CRT tv's.
Still, I have changed out more flyback transformers than I can count,
having said that I am guessing it was mostly the triplers inside failing,
and as they were all potted there was not much you could do.
This was over 35 years
Hi Paul,
It looks like you have put a lot of time into it.
Re: Temperatures.
John Taylors supplies get as hot as hades when running at high loads also.
It will take me some time to digest this.
The only real issue I have with flyback designs is, once you have a design
worked out you are sort
Bit late to this post.
I have had success with this ebay HV supply for IN9's.
They are kind of touchy though.
Blown up 3 just being a little bit careless with loading etc.
Great idea,
Can you please supply a circuit for the one you showed. Or even better the
eagle files !

Just what is that inductor. A very small signal type to me ?

Thanks for the enlightenment all.
This was on an ebay listing as spotted above.
Thought I was missing something.
I too have seen strange "artefacts" of 3 or 4 pins lighting up with spaces
between them on my projects also.
This has never been repeatable and seems (in my case) to be the result of
I didn't think this was actually possible but then I saw this ?
What magic is going on here ? I am at a loss.

I am curious as to how you get to the 22 years lifespan claim ?
What are the techniques used to get such a long lifetime ?
