You are right of course. Much higher voltages in the old CRT tv's. Still, I have changed out more flyback transformers than I can count, having said that I am guessing it was mostly the triplers inside failing, and as they were all potted there was not much you could do. This was over 35 years

Bit late to this post. I have had success with this ebay HV supply for IN9's. They are kind of touchy though. Blown up 3 just being a little bit careless with loading etc.

Thanks for the enlightenment all. This was on an ebay listing as spotted above. Thought I was missing something. I too have seen strange "artefacts" of 3 or 4 pins lighting up with spaces between them on my projects also. This has never been repeatable and seems (in my case) to be the result of
