I think there may have been a problem with Winsock versions. Someone
please correct me if I'm wrong. I have not built with any of the MS
compilers so all I really know for sure is that MSVC 6 works as well as
MinGW and Cygwin.

You get a couple of warnings, but apart from that everything works fine. The only
annoying problem is that the project dependencies are lost when converting the project
settings.
