AgentX socket permission problem

2009-10-30 Thread Schmidt-Goertz, Ulrich
Hi, I can't connect to the SNMP master agent when running as non-root user. The sample subagent created by net-snmp-config --compile-subagent exits with the following message: Warning: Failed to connect to the agentx master agent (/var/agentx/master): Unknown host (/var/agentx/master)

Addendum: Even if I run the subagent as root, though it tells me AgentX subagent connected, I cannot snmpget the objects that I compiled into the subagent, instead getting the message: MY_MIB::myObjectName = No Such Instance currently exists at this OID What might be the cause of this?

Hi, try to use the fully qualified dot notation. It's probably because the tools don't find the MIB. Regards, Daniel. Von: Schmidt-Goertz, Ulrich [ulrich.schmidt-goe...@plath.de] Gesendet: Freitag, 30. Oktober 2009 13:53 An: Schmidt-Goertz, Ulrich

Well, I have done that, and the OID is resolved correctly as [MY_MIB::myObjectName], but I still get the error below. -Original Message- From: Schnell, Daniel [mailto:daniel.schn...@ndsatcom.com] Sent: Friday, October 30, 2009 3:10 PM To: Schmidt-Goertz, Ulrich Cc:
