Update / March 2010 ............................................... 1 / 'Engaging with Sound' - A film exploring pedagogy and workshop leading as a creative practice - now launched online! In following 'Sound in Context' (2009), 'Engaging with Sound' (2010) is a documentary exploring the broader practice of sound and music that is linked with teaching and education, not only as a means of subsistance for artists, but as a creative process. The documentary explores collaboration as means to engage diverse participants in artistic production, where the process of sharing and learning becomes the core of the work over the result or end product itself. What is the landscape now of investment and funding for culture? What are the new possibilities for creativity and the community? 'Creative Space' is a project that seeks to interrogate the dominant force of the creative economy and to search out, and if necessary create spaces that nourish and give life to creativity and criticality. As the first of our investigations on 'Creative Space' we have invited speakers to contribute the discussion from the perspective of case studies, methods, models, and policies. Presentations will be followed by an open discussion. The project is produced by DOXA a new transdisciplinary research collective that facilitates dialogue to approach new models, practices and ideas of culture, creativity and the global community through experimental projects and debate. www.doxacollective.org 4 / 'Nønspace' (2009) will be exhibited as part of the Border Infection programme at The Gallery at Goldsmiths College. 22-26 March 2010, Preview: 22 March, 7-10pm, Goldsmiths Studentsʼ Union Dixon Road, New Cross, London SE14 6NW, T 020 8692 1406. Curated by LDNBRU. Nønspace is a 2-channel film installation that attempts to probe the often puzzling and elusive space of Hong Kong. Through its unique history, geography and politics, Hong Kong has sprouted from a small Chinese fishing village to a globalized financial city. From British influence of Western capitalism to a return to a long lost Chinese reality, Hong Kong has formed into a place of in-betweenness. ...............................................
